Friday, Sep. 14 Hurricane Florence forecast to hit East Coast – Hurricane Florence projected to make landfall around the North Carolina-South Carolina border before moving inland, weakening slightly as it does so. Forecasts include coastal flooding of up to 11 feet (if peak surge coincides with high tide), ‘large and destructive’ waves, total rainfall accumulations of up to 25 inches (plus isolated maxima of 30-40 inches) leading to ‘catastrophic’ flash flooding and ‘prolonged significant’ river flooding, swells likely to cause ‘life-threatening’ surf and rip current conditions, and possible tornadoes * Storm Surge Warnings, Storm Surge Watches, Hurricane Warnings, Hurricane Watches, Tropical Storm Warnings, and Tropical Storm Watches in effect for parts of the Carolinas and Virginia * Storm predicted to move inland over the next few days, weakening as it does so but curving on a path from roughly west to roughly northeast, threatening the entire Eastern Seaboard
