MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Another successful Spoonbread Festival is in the books in Madison County.
The event is Berea's largest festival and it's all centered around the famous cornmeal-based dish that has a puddling like consistency. The festival started on Friday and ran through Sunday night.
During the celebration there was tethered hot air balloon rides, a car show, live music, craft vendors, and of course there was plenty of food.
“It's great to see all the smiling faces, and just the little kids wondering around with the cool new toy, or an elderly couple enjoying the music under the tent, that's the best part about it,” said organizer Sarah Rowlette.
We are told hundreds of pounds of spoonbread was made and sold throughout the weekend.
