Deputy dies on duty due to medical emergency after physical altercation with suspect

MEADE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Saturday, police with the Meade County Sheriff's Officer were executing a search warrant when a deputy had a medical emergency and later died at the hospital.

According to police, deputies were executing a search warrant in Payneville, Kentucky. While doing so, Deputy Chris Hulsey got into a physical altercation with a suspect.

After the altercation, it was said that Hulsey had "an apparent medical issue." Two detectives on the scene performed CPR on Hulsey until Meade County EMS arrived on the scene.

Hulsey was transported to the Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.

The cause of death has not been determined as of Saturday afternoon.
