FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Emergency crews shut down two eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 64 early Monday morning after a semi-trailer truck caught fire.
Officials said the fire was reported just after 2 a.m. near mile marker 88 east of Lexington.
Kentucky Traffic Cabinet officials said the right and center eastbound lanes were expected to be closed until about 8 a.m., though one lane was opened to traffic as crews worked in the rain to clear the wreckage.
Officials said the the driver had two tires blow out before noticing the back tires and brakes were on fire. The driver then reportedly pulled to the side of the road and detached the trailer, which held a shipment of coffee.
No one was injured in the fire, and firefighter were able to quickly put down the flames.
