MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A family was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after their home caught fire.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Foster Branch Road in Jeffersonville.
There was a family of four–two adults, two children–inside the mobile home at the time the fire started.
Officials say the mother woke up to the smoke detector and had to “pass through flames” to get to her children’s bedroom. She took them outside and went back in to get her husband. All were outside when firefighters arrived.
Three were taken to UK Hospital by ambulance and one adult was airlifted to UK Hospital.
The Fire Battalion Chief cited smoke inhalation and airway burn as the only two injuries they were transported for.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
