MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Fire crews responded early Sunday to fire that destroyed a home in Mount Sterling.
Officials say no one was home at the time of the blaze. Family members told them that a man and woman who lived there were away in Bell County.
Fire officials said that by the time crews arrived, the home’s roof already had collapsed.
Officials said they used 16,000 gallons of water fighting the blaze. They said crews would return to the scene later Sunday morning to check on any hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
