(LEX 18)– Crews with Jackson Energy are working on a large power outage caused by a mudslide on KY HWY 472.

420 members in Laurel and Clay counties remain without power. Three poles were broken and two have been repaired.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Brittany Nason said that the internet and TV started to flicker and that is when her mother went outside.

“She said that she saw sparks and that’s why we all come out because she said that there was a fire out here, and we couldn’t see anything. It was just pitch black. And my dad got a flashlight and started looking around, noticed all the power lines was out,” said Nason.

A tree split in three directions and knocked out a power line, a TV and Cable line, and also caused four TV- cable and electric poles to also fall.

More than 900 people in Laurel and Clay Counties lost power, by 1 a.m., crews had restored more than 400 households’ power.
