BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reports that an 11-year-old autistic boy drowned in a tragic accident on Saturday evening.

Reportedly deputies were called to the 8200 block of Rose Petal Drive just before 5:15p.m. for a report of a missing autistic boy, 11-year-old Madou Ba.

Within minutes of their arrival, deputies say he was found unconscious in a neighbor’s pool.

Reportedly the boy went outside his home and was last seen by his family about 20 minutes before they reported him missing.

Family members immediately called 911 and asked a neighbor to check their backyard and pool area.

Deputies say that neighbor found Ba submerged in the pool. Reportedly the neighbor jumped in and pulled him out of the water, and began to perform CPR.

Ba was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence where he was pronounced dead.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson says the death appears to be a tragic accident. Investigators were told the boy was drawn to water, and they believe he jumped a fence in order to get to the pool.
