LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington Fire officials say a plane was forced to make an emergency landing in a field near Blue Grass Airport after a reported engine failure.

It happened at about 3:50p.m. according to the fire department.

Reportedly a Bonanza plan was approaching Blue Grass Airport for landing when the engine failed.

The plane was able to land in a field on the property of Calumet Farm on Versailles Road.

Fire officials say there were two people on the plane and they did not appear to be hurt. They were checked out on the scene but refused to be taken to the hospital. A source tells LEX 18 they were coming into Lexington for the UK basketball game against Kansas.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and they are expected to come to Lexington on Monday or Tuesday to investigate. The plane will not be moved until then.
